Putin says. “He was a man of complicated fate, and he made serious mistakes in his life, but he achieved the right results.”

well, for sure his mistake was to question Putin’s power. And the right results was that he… died?

Got this from the Piped description, but also didn’t watch:

Russian president Vladimir Putin breaks his silence on the plane crash a day earlier that reportedly killed mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin and other senior members of the Wagner paramilitary group. “I have known Yevgeny Prigozhin for a very long time, since the early 1990s,” Putin says. “He was a man of complicated fate, and he made serious mistakes in his life, but he achieved the right results.”

Not OP, but you can skim a news article in 10/20 seconds.

Why should people watch videos that take 10x more time and, more often than not, don’t offer anything besides narration since most just use recycled footage anyways?

You’ve gotta read anyways what he says since we don’t understand Russian, but now we don’t have as much control over the content.

Accessibility aside, I really dislike the video-centric internet.

I genuinely don’t understand why people watch YouTube tutorials for coding - it’s not a particularly visual subject and most tutorials could be written out in an article that takes a minute to read.

From a consumer perspective, video consumption is passive, thus more easier. Also, many people don’t like to read very much or are scared away by what looks like bigger amounts of text.

From a creator perspective videos are in some cases easier or maybe “fun” to make. Structuring content as text really well is not easy and if done right the content might be boiled down to a few sentences - in which case maybe people notice that they don’t actually have much to say. Also, with video content, the content becomes more creator-centric alone by having to narrate something.

From my personal perspective, when I look for information alone, I will always prefer a carefully written book or article in place of a video. If I’m looking for easy and passive entertainment, then I’ll prefer the video.

That said, everyone can take whatever they like most and works better for them. But people shouldn’t be expecting me to open/watch a video just because that’s what works best for them, because that doesn’t work for me. Also, I personally often listen to music while reading.

My problem is that usually they try to make the videos longer for ad reasons, so you end up with a paragraph’s worth of instruction spread put over several minutes. What a waste of time.

OP didn’t say anything about the length. Some of us are in a dark, quiet room, beside someone who is sleeping. We don’t want to watch a video, we want to read stuff.

Also, how the fuck are we supposed to know how long it is without clicking on it?

It’s subtitled, so there’s your reading.

Whoever I open a YouTube link, it’s muted until I tell it not to mute. So there’s not much excuse for not at least clicking a link to check how long something is.

Anyway, you have a nice day.

Nice doubling down on hand-waving away people’s very real reasons why they prefer to read a quote, rather than wait for it to come on the screen… Want another one? I don’t want to support YouTube/Google and their privacy invasions.

But anyway, all I did was politely request a quote, so you can now go be wrong somewhere else…

Is a video. Bunch of unnecessary usage of you’re data cap, and often it’s not even transcripted for when you can’t listen to it

Swiped to fast and thought he is wearing a party hat on this picture. Now can’t be unseen.
