You can turn this off but it can only be done from a computer or on a phone using desktop view…

While logged into Netflix on a browser, you’ll need to follow these steps:

    • Account
    • Pick your profile under profile and parental controls
    • Change playback settings
    • Uncheck the 2nd box for autoplaying previews

Isn’t that just for stopping the previews only when hovering over a title from the home screen, for instance? Doesn’t that exclude when you open the page for a show/movie, like to read it’s synopsis/cast? (the point the OP is making)

To my memory, there is still no option to stop the auto-start.

I tested it in the iPhone app and it doesn’t autoplay when clicking on the link. Maybe that’s just mobile and not web/TV apps

It has to be to artificially inflate the number of views their shows are getting. Just auto-play every single fucking thing a person hovers over and your shows will never stagnate.

We unsubscribed a while back, but that was one of my biggest gripes with the platform.

My pet peeve is when a show or movie ends and they immediately try to play a trailer for another show. I actually enjoy reading the credits! Or maybe I’m looking for the mid- or post-credits scenes. Either way, they give me like 10 seconds or less to cancel the next preview.

I hate when I pause to read subtitles or something on the screen and it’s filled with overlays like “Did you like, love, or not for me this?”

For real, I hate having the conversation about the movie I just watched with someone drowned out with a trailer for some shitty original.

I love when you pause a video and Netflix decides to load the next and start playing anyways. Because of how slow their app is to update the controls I end up just disconnecting and closing the app to stop it.
