What is the WTO? Why where they being protested by 50,000 people from all over the world?
The World Trade Organization is an unelected organization that trieds to remove barriers to “Free Trade”. In order to do that, they coerce countries into removing or moving around environmental, labor laws and human rights.
So ya, everyone was and is still upset.
The blind greed of multinational corporations brought out the Labor Unions, the environmental organizations, farmers from all over the world, scientists, teachers, small business owners, artists, tactical civil disobedience experts…people from all walks of life because we are all affected. That is what made the event so incredible. The mass diversity.
I won’t say much more because the people who were protesting were quite prolific. They can tell you better than me. Listen to them.
