You may have seen this popup at the top of your inbox over the past few days
Unfortunately for Google, I always use Firefox with uBlock. This way, I don’t really need to “enhance” the safety of Chrome.
My 14,000 unread emails would like to inform you that I have not seen this pop-up. Good info though
PROTIP: To stop the G! login popup window from annoying the piss out of you when using Firefox, simply add what’s below to your uBlock filters:
||accounts.google.com/gsi/iframe
Worked great for me.
Full instructions:
- Click the Ublock Origin icon (a shield like thing with a number in it in the upper right of desktop Firefox)
- Click the gears to go to settings (almost at the bottom and on the right of the drop down)
- Click the My Filters tab and paste what’s above into the next open row (for me this was my first filter).
- Stop seeing the silly box to log into sites using G!.
I use Thunderbird 🤷♂️
It’s important to note that enabling this protection on one device carries over to the others. However, enabling these safeguards also grants Google access to detailed information about your browsing habits. This is because when you log in to Chrome, your browsing data is temporarily linked to your Google account. The goal is to tailor protections to your account, and Google notes that this data is anonymized after a short period of time.
