  • The hoarding of wealth isn’t an issue here. The wealth they have is stocks in companies, mansions, boats, jewelry, nice cars, ect. None of those things contribute to the problem of food distribution. If we killed every billionaire and took their assets none of it would help in the fight for world hunger.

Also we do lack the means of cheap distribution right now. Currently we would need to hire a ton more drivers, set up a ton more warehouses, more shipping boats, and fund the operations. Could it be done, maybe, but not in the current state.

I do agree it’s an unwilling adventure we don’t want to take, that’s why it hasn’t happened yet.

  • I have. The plug in play systems are incredibly dangerous for both the home and the grid is not installed correctly. The biggest thing is killing linemen from the backfeed, putting dirty power on the grid, or catching your house on fire.

The most common way people add these is on an existing circuit, which can overload the wires downstream to a high load device causing a fire. They should only be installed into a dedicated circuit for this reason, and it’s your are at that point you might as well install an acually full solar system.

These small ones that i would consider safe for in use circuits would be like 200watt systems, and at that point you are only saving $30/month at Best. It’s not worth the hassle.

As far as carbon footprint, the battery systems are the biggest contributor, and they are lucky to last 5 years on cheap systems. The panel itself will be carbon friendly faster a few years so there is no knocking that part.
