I bet that 1234 is used more often because of the 4-character minimum, like PIN codes on debit cards. It’s 4 characters so it’s safe. 123, on the other hand, is not safe, because it is 3 characters. /s
My solar inverter admin interface has a certain 4-digit password. So I wanted to change it to secure it, and found out that it only allows 4-digit passwords. Luckily the access point can be set up with a higher entropy password though (it is constantly advertised and had a very “secure” 8-digit password by default, I think you can guess which one)
I agree!
I think that we will keep having a mixup of “Buy European”, “Boycott US” and “Privacy” because of the typical overlap of reasons why consumers change their behavior. I really like the visualisations that acknowledge this difference and indicate which alternatives satisfy which reasons for wanting to switch away from American providers.
It is.
It’s also sad that chickens, fishes and shrimps don’t look as cute and aren’t mourned even though they suffer all the same. They usually don’t even get a plural form.
Codeberg is one of the largest Forgejo instances, run by a German non-profit, and is where Forgejo is developed. It also has a hosted Actions runner (Woodpecker CI) and is pretty close to Github overall.
There is one important feature difference: it does not allow for private closed-source software. Only temporarily private repos.
Check out this blog for a Github -> Codeberg migration story:
Same. Mail and Calendar moved to Proton and I’m now using Quad9 and MullVad for my home network’s DNS instead of Google or CloudFlare
How would you feel about this as an autist who stims? I would be scared that even the most progressive online spaces are normalizing mocking autists for stimming.
We don’t need to use discrimination to mock and hate Elon Musk. There are plenty of valid reasonsto mock him and hate him. His sexism, nazism, willful ignorance about discrimination, inability to have equal relationships with meaningful communication (remember when he told his wife “I’d fire you if you were my employee”?), etc.
Let’s stick to those and not alienate neurodivergents. (Same goes for fat-shaming Elon btw)
Superaffengeile List! Hab nur noch zwei gehört, Unplug Trump und Kruppstahl, beide 10/10 (oder muss ich sagen 1/6)
So $30 is all that you need to delete your Microsoft account? Or is the problem that even if you’d rebuy Minecraft, you’d still need a MS account to play it?
Are you aware of the many Open Source Minecraft-inspired games?
Yes it is. It’s in Alpha because it’s not feature complete yet.
But not everyone needs a feature-complete Desktop Environment. Some people are OK with a basic window manager.
Despite known bugs (reproducible crashes), many people are happy with it already.
Guess some of those use Garuda.
Thanks for the clarification! I should try stuff more, and read less landing pages
Thanks for raising awareness of FOSS Discord alternatives. Revolt certainly is the best looking of all of them.
Last time I looked into this, Revolt’s voice and video chat was “unsupported” for self-hosting while they were working on a complete rewrite. Is this still the case?
The other big FOSS Discord alternative is Synapse-Matrix with the Element X client, but no clue how far along voice and video is over there either.
Then there’s Mattermost, which is more work-oriented and has voice and screen share, but no video calls.
I should host some of this stuff to try it out.
Or it explodes into a mess of related things and you end up researching 20 different ways / things that would combine well with it without accomplishing anything in the end. Except occasionally having people ask: “How do you know so many things?”
Disclaimer: I don’t have ADHD according to the doc because I should have had more problems with it in school. More than just getting bullied. She refuses to send me to an institute where they might think I have ADHD, because she doesn’t trust their judgement.
Props to my (officially autistic) girlfriend for basically becoming an ADHD psych and helping me structure my life and get things done.
