  • Exactly. The niche communities is where Reddit has excelled for over a decade. The front page has always been a grim place to be.

I really don’t like the gaslighting regarding Lemmy success. I like Lemmy, but let’s not pretend it’s a viable alternative for these use cases. Even popular communities for sports like football are utterly dead on Lemmy.

  • I said this elsewhere, but I’ll say again.

Brexit not only predated Trump, but was one of the factors that led people to believe he wasn’t a meme candidate, and could actually seek not only the GOP nomination from Jeb Bush, but the White House from Hilary Clinton.

In terms of Brexit and right-wing think, Euroscepticism and outright racism has been a thing here for decades. We had dealt with it in the past by treating these people like the mindless nutjobs that they are. They were the people you shunned in pubs or told your kids not to talk to. Sadly, they’re normalised through the internet.

We’re also no strangers to rich cunts dominating our politics. Musk is child’s play compared to the damage the Murdoch’s have rought on our shores…

I think Farage has had his moment, and I don’t see him landing a second term. What I do think is that America needs to focus on what to do post-Trump. You need a candidate that’ll not only fix all the problems of the past, but who will spend the next four years building hope.

  • While I agree in principle, a blanket enforcement seems like a great way for companies to purposely tank smaller entities just to get hold of their code/IP. Alongside this, it probably doesn’t help to just release the code, when these devices will run on web services, or perhaps even proprietary tech.

In this case, it would be a great way to dissolve the company. Switch the endpoints over to a custodian project, have the servers owned and run through a community campaign, and open source the code and artifacts.

  • Haha, it’s so weird that the only people that have caught on that are my sneezes are my wife and my parents. My wife used to think it was cute, until she realised that her smelling it basically means she’s breathing in my sneezes, which is pretty grim.

It’s maybe 1 in 5 sneezes, but I can almost always tell when it’s going to be a “smelly” one.

Let’s not forget Chris Jericho, whose wife was “somewhere” on Jan 6th.

AEW does a lot of pro LGBTQ+ stuff, but generally the worst part of pro wrestling is always the fans. They’re some of the most toxic people you’ll ever meet, probably a step or two down from anime fans. To put the point across, AEW’s socials are usually full of WWE fans saying how shit AEW is, and how everything they do is inferior to WWE.
