I’m kind of for legalizing all drugs, slowly, while also putting in place societal infrastructure for discouraging the abuse of drugs and to help people who become addicts.
I can elaborate on further reasons for legalization of drugs if requested; it is not however a top priority to me as a policy issue so I don’t focus on it as much for that reason.
What do you think about drug legalization or criminalization?
Legalizing just lowers the barrier to create new addicts. Drugs and poverty usually correlate and that wont change by making it legal. It just makes the black market drop in price. Look at weed, the black market isnt gone its just cheaper. I dont want to see ten dollar grams of heroine as it will nullify any efforts to get them clean. In my country they dish out free heroine to addicts. They can shoot it up in a clean place. Gets them off the street and in the eyes of the government so they can always take a step to sobriety. That incentive is gone the moment heroine is ten bucks.

“societal infrastructure…to help people who become addicts”? You mean put the burden on taxpayers to address the social pathologies produced by increased drug use. No thanks.
well, the “burden” is already on taxpayers to pay for enforcement and jailing of such “offenders”
I suppose I think independent of the cost that it’s a freedom perhaps that’s right to have; it creates unnecessary barriers to people growing their own medicine and being able to freely trade for it and to have it
No point in increasing the burden, which legalization would likely do. Moreover, nobody has a “right” to take money out of my pocket to address their problems. It is also a threat to public safety, motorists on dope can be as dangerous as drunk motorists. Also, people intoxicated on either dope or alcohol are more likely to commit crime than sober individuals. There are studies that show an increased likelihood of schizophrenia with marijuana use. People with schizophrenia are more likely to commit crimes and require either incarceration or treatment at public expense.
Infinite judgement and infinite mercy. All drug users who are caught are sentenced to immediate execution, but if they turn themselves in there is free rehab.
But if they relapse they die.
Absolutely not, some drugs when taken will literally mindbreak you, you will never be able to get off them because they will literally rewire your brain especially if you already have issues with addiction/reward mechanisms.
I support legalization, but only on the condition that the government fucks off the consequences of what people do. No government money should go to druggies to deal with the consequences of their actions for them. Let them rot for all I care, as long as it’s on their own dime.
